Case study — Defence
Inside the wire
at Britain’s proving ground
DVD at UTAC Millbrook — the British Army’s land-equipment showcase. Vehicle trials, mobility serials, stand coverage and capability films for the primes, the OEMs and the armed forces, filmed by air and ground.
The arena
DVD at UTAC Millbrook, on camera
DVD is where the British Army meets the industry that equips it — hundreds of exhibitors, live mobility demonstrations and the toughest proving ground in the country. SkyGlide films it from the stands to the mud: trials tracked at speed, platforms captured for the bid library, and crews who hold genuine weapons-handling and range experience.
And the show trusts our footage with its own name. At DVD, SkyGlide films alongside the Army’s own crews, DE&S and BFBS — and the show’s promotional material has been cut from our reel. We return for DVD 2026: two days, every exhibitor stand, the live demos, delivered while the show is still being talked about.
On the track — UTAC Millbrook
Through the water crossing at speed — filmed by air and ground, without interrupting the programme.
How it runs
Two live days. No second takes.
DVD doesn’t pause for cameras. Mobility demonstrations run to the minute, delegations move on a schedule, and every platform on the off-road circuit gets one pass in front of the lens. SkyGlide’s crews film it live — drones over the demonstration areas under CAA authorisation, ground cameras inside the serial, slots coordinated with the show’s own film plan so nobody costs anybody a shot.
Then the part most crews can’t do: the edit happens on site. Day One’s off-road footage is cut into a showreel and playing on the big screens that same afternoon — and the dinner film screens the evening it was shot. When the delegations walk in on Day Two, yesterday’s best moments are already part of the show.
Around the live coverage sits the quiet discipline the sector expects: faces redacted as standard, sensitive platforms handled to the client’s direction, and nothing leaving the edit until it’s been cleared.
What we deliver
Built for the defence calendar
Trials & ranges
Mobility trials, firing serials and demonstrations filmed without interrupting the programme — muzzle awareness, arcs and range discipline are second nature to the crew, not a briefing point.
Expos & capability films
Stand coverage, launches and capability films cut for the bid library, the stand screen and the delegation viewing — shot in 6K/8K ProRes and edited in-house by the crew that filmed it.
Persistent overwatch
The weather-sealed M30T thermal platform for site security, perimeter overwatch and exercise observation — live encrypted downlink to your control point, day or night.
On the stand
Uncrewed systems, weapon stations and platforms — filmed for the bid library and the stand screen.
Thanks again for your help on the event — the client was really happy!
One crew
The team that films your trial cuts your film — no third-party editors, one point of accountability.
